Originally from the Philippines, I went to Otis Parsons in Los Angeles and Parsons in Paris where I finished with a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration/Graphic Design in 1989. In 2017 I completed the Figurative course at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh where I currently live and work.
The majority of my work are floral paintings though I sometimes accept portrait commissions. I work in oil and sometimes in watercolour. My paintings have a slow, meditative quality with passages of restless brushwork with dramatic use of colour and light. Using the floral structure I combine tenebrism with a colour palette inspired by religious paintings of the Baroque period to capture pathos and evoke an emotional response.
I have exhibited in several group exhibitions in Edinburgh, the most recent a show of floral artwork – Florescence- in August 2021.
